What’s up in August and September?

Hi, everybody. I haven’t written for a while. I’ve been doing things with my family. My son and I took a short road trip and my newly married grandson came home on leave from the army so we could meet his new wife. She is, of course, delightful. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed your hiatus from me!

I’ve got a busy two months coming up. Here’s where I’ll be in August and September.

August 4 to 6 I’ll be at a writing conference in Yellow Springs, Ohio where I hope to learn how to spin a better yarn. Then in September things really pick up.

September 2—Lubrina Burton and I will be at the Shelbyville Fall Art and Craft Show at the Shelby County Fairgrounds. This is a three-day event from Sept. 1 to Sept 3 but we’ll only be there on Saturday. My first time at this event but if it goes well, I might be at some other events in Shelbyville.

September 9 (tentatively) Magic of Books Author Fair and Book Signing at Knights of Columbus located at 118 E. Second St Seymour, In. This is their first time, so it’ll be interesting to see how it goes.

Sept. 16-17 I’ll be at the Midway Fall Festival in Midway, Kentucky with Doris Dearen Settles, an author from Lexington. I’ve never been at this before, and I’m anxious to see it. Midway is such a beautiful town.

September 30 I’ll be at the Louisville Literary Arts Writers’ Block Festival at the Logan Street Market in Louisville. I hope you’ll come by and say hi, although I won’t be selling books there. I hope I’m too busy doing other things!

There is actually a Book Festival at the Madison County Library on Sept. 23 but I promised my wife I wouldn’t book something EVERY Saturday so I’m going to take that one off. If you’re in Madison County though, be sure to put it on your calendar and stop by to see all the other authors.

That’s all for now. I know you can’t show up at each event and buy a book but if you want to stop by and say hi, we can always chat. Also, remember, books make great gifts. I just bought birthday cards for five friends who have birthdays in August. If you’ve got a friend who likes to read, even if my books aren’t right for that person, I bet you can find something from one of the other authors at these events.

Talk to you soon!
